System Manager Installation

  1. Begin the installation of the Sensource System Manager Software package by double clicking the desired version of the System Manager Installer executable.

  2. The Sensource System Manager Installation process will begin. You should be presented with the System Manager Wizard window. Left click the Next button to proceed

    • If you encounter any errors at this point of the installation process some Microsoft Windows updates may be required before proceeding. Navigate to the System Manager Pre-Installation Steps page on the SenSource knowledge base if you are unsure about completing this process.
  3. You will be presented with the SenSource System Manager Software license agreement. Take a moment to read through the terms of software license. Left click the “I accept the terms in the license agreement” radio button. Left click the Next button when you are ready to continue.

  4. You should now see the Customer Information window. Enter a user name and organization name into the User Name and Organization fields where appropriate. Enter your product key into the Product Key field. Left click the Validate button. Left click the Next button.

    • The product key can be found on the software disc in a text file Key.txt. If you do not have a product key contact SenSource Technical Support at support@sensoureinc.com to request a new key.
  5. You will next be presented with the Destination Folder window. By default the System Manager software will be installed to “C:\Program Files\SenSource\System Manager\”. You may select an alternate installation location by left clicking the Change button. It is not recommended that the installation location be changed. Left click on the Next button to proceed.

  6. The Setup Type selection window is displayed next. There are three possible Setup Type options, Client, Server and Custom. For most new installations selecting Server is appropriate. Left click radio button that corresponds with the desired Setup Type. Left click the Next button.

    • If you are unsure of which Setup Type option to use select Custom. Left click the Next button. You will then be presented with the Custom Setup window. Select all available software components for installation.

  7. You will be presented with the Microsoft SQL Server Configuration window. You can optionally change the default Installation Directory and SA Passwords that will be used when installing the Microsoft SQL Server and Database. SenSource strongly recommends leaving these fields at the installation defaults.

  8. The Installing System Manager window will be displayed. At this point the installation process will begin.

    • If this is the first installation of the SenSource System Manager software it is recommended that the Microsoft SQL server be installed at this time. The SenSource System Manager installer will install Microsoft SQL 2008 R2 Express, and simplify the creation of the server and database.
  9. You will be presented with the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Setup window.

    • The System Manager Software package will typically install SQL 2008 R2 Express with all required settings. If you require assistance while installing Microsoft SQL 2008 R2 please use the following link to navigate to Microsoft’s SQL 2008 R2 Express Installation documentation:

  10. Once the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express install has completed the System Manager Installation will resume.

  11. Once the System Manager Software installation has completed you will be presented with the Database Upgrade window. Confirm that the paths in the Server and Database fields are correct. Left click the Run button to being the database upgrade process.

    • If this is a new software installation, or the System Manage SQL database does not exist, the Database Upgrade window will be displayed. The Database Upgrade window will prompt you to create a new “SeverManager” database. Left click the Yes button.
  12. The Upgrade Log window will be displayed.

  13. Once the database upgrade completes, a message confirming that the Database upgrade was completed will be displayed. Left click the OK button.

  14. At this point the Installation of the System Manager Software package has been completed. Left click the Finish button to complete the process and close the Setup Wizard.
